College Essay Workshop

Class of 2027 Seniors will be invited to attend a three-session essay-writing workshop at the beginning of Summer Break to get inspired, draft an essay, edit and critique it in class with peers and the instructor.

Here’s a glimpse of what it will be like.

Bring your college application essay prompts to the class! Most essay prompts can be found on applications available at university and college websites. The workshop is taught by an FHE teacher and the goal is for each student to have a well-crafted college application essay complete by the end of the workshop.

2 or 3 session times are typically offered to accommodate busy summer schedules: late morning, afternoon, and evening.

Session One: Analyze samples and brainstorm topics

Session 1.5: 10-minute individual conference for guided topic selection

Session Two: Refine writing style and mechanics

Session Three: One-on-one editing sessions by appointment
