College Essay Workshop
Class of 2027 Seniors are invited to attend a three-session essay-writing workshop at the beginning of Summer Break to get inspired, draft an essay, edit and critique it in class with peers and the instructor.
Bring your college application essay prompts to the class! Most essay prompts can be found on applications available at university and college websites. The workshop is taught by Ms. Taber-Kett and the goal is for each student to have a well-crafted college application essay complete by the end of the workshop.
June 8 - 12, 2026
Two session times are available to accommodate busy summer schedules:
#1: 10:30am - 12:00pm

#2: 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Session One: Monday, June 8
Analyze samples and brainstorm topics
Session 1.5: Tuesday, June 9 (Optional Zoom)
10-minute individual conference for guided topic selection
Session Two: Wednesday, June 10
Refine writing style and mechanics
Session Three: Thursday-Friday, June 11 and 12
One-on-one editing sessions by appointment
This workshop is valued at $125 and is offered for $100 (full and partial waiver available) by the FHE Academic Boosters Club, which is funded by parents, families, and community members.
Registration is open until the workshop reaches capacity.
